My process begins and is permeated with drawing. With the privilege and requirement of time often shortened, drawing keeps a connection to and is the generator of my studio work. Using fluid materials such as gouache, ink, and watercolour allows for immediacy and unpredictability, qualities akin to paint, that encourage associative, subconscious emergence. My drawings are loose, automatic and provisional; wandering lines dip in and out of figuration and abstraction as I engage in acts of doodling, staining, layering, scratching and mark accumulation.
